Our Mission - Four Generations of Family Values & Watchmaking Principles

Our core values and watchmaking principles are routed within four generations of the famous Fields watchmaking family. Today, third generation watchmaker Antoni Fields and fourth generation watchmaker James Fields live and breathe the family mission – to build unique and exquisite hand assembled timepieces made to celebrate and enhance life’s most precious moments.

Each watch’s story captures an exclusive moment in the iconic Swan & Edgar store’s 150-year history. Our timepieces merge this British heritage with cutting edge designs, premium materials and state-of-the-art engineering.

A Swan & Edgar watch’s journey begins with a minimum of six months research and design within our family led London based team. With decades of experience, we scour the earth seeking out the finest raw materials, including luxurious hand waxed leathers, high-grade stainless steels and frictionless jewels which comprise our signature movements. All movement complications consist of over 100 individual highly engineered parts which are then deep grain finished and hand assembled to achieve peak precision and reliability.

Once your watch is hand assembled, it is painstakingly scrutinised with a magnified glass and hand finished with the finest polishes and durable coatings.

Each timepiece will then endure 5 days of rigorous quality control and testing before it is marked with its unique serial number and our industry leading 5-year warranty.

Swan & Edgar

The History & The Heritage

The Swan & Edgar store was founded by George Swan & William Edgar in 1812 with the mission of celebrating British craftsmanship and delivering unique, unmatched products to uplift the public – a sentiment maintained by the Fields family today. This iconic store marked the cornerstone of the Piccadilly district and was re-modelled by the famous classical architect Sir Reginald Blomfield who went on to re-design the West End of London.

Steeped in history, the Swan & Edgar store lived through two world wars and notably inspired the nation with its supportive messaging and provision of industry leading goods. The store was revered amongst leading sportsman, servicemen and royals throughout its lifetime. Today, each hand assembled Swan & Edgar timepiece is built to preserve the unique heritage of this store, resulting in our collectors owning an iconic piece of British history.
